About 5 or 6 days out from worlds, I’m about 154 pounds right now, which is what I need to be in the gi, so 3-4 more pounds to lose. Not too bad. It shouldn’t be too hard. I’m excited to wear my new Hyperfly gi for the first time, and to visit California.

All posts for the month May, 2014
My mom asked me to come up for the weekend to babysit my little brother this past weekend. Once I got here, my freaking car broke down. Yea it’s got 290k miles on it, I don’t want to talk about it. We have 5 cars and 3 people that drive, and of the two spare cars, one has a broken rear axle and the other’s inspection is dead and it won’t pass! So my car’s been in the shop since Monday, I’ve got like 18 days till Worlds, and I can’t train at all. Not only is the closest gym an hour away (which I have no car to get to), but all of my athletic clothing and gis are back at college. Makes for a real bad mood, and I’m struggling with my weight. 154 is going to be rough, I might have to go 167.5
Sorry guys, I know it’s been like a month or two, I had finals and a bunch of papers and I got really busy with the semester ending. I wanted to make this post to kind of sum up everything important that’s happened recently. A few weeks ago I went to one of the colleges near me and did hydrostatic weighing, which was pretty cool. I’d always wanted to try it, and I wanted to go then because I was the most out of shape I’ve ever been, and I wanted to make it a starting point. I was 167 pounds (in all of my clothes, so maybe 164) and 11.7% body fat. That was about what I expected, and definitely the highest it’s been. I’m going to go back in a few weeks, right before Worlds, to measure my improvement. Another cool thing that happened was that I was in touch with Do or Die and they made me one of their supported athletes. It’s not as good as a sponsorship, but it’s pretty cool, since I get a discount and they pay for registration to major tournaments if I place, and some other benefits. I’ve always liked their gis, and I’d like to be sponsored by them, which they said is possible from being a supported athlete. I also got promoted for the second time to 2 stripes lol. Unfortunately, one of my stripes fell off at open mat on a Saturday, then Mike “promoted” me the next Tuesday before I had gotten around to replacing it. I don’t really mind, so I didn’t say anything, plus I thought it’d be awkward. It’s a little unfortunate though, because I would’ve liked a stripe before Worlds, since the last one came in October. With how much i train, that’s a bit of a long gap, but oh well :). More time to do well at blue belt. Alright guys, that’s about it.
